A new market :
The Pet-Friendly
Pets are loved and cherished outside the home! Welcoming them into your rental home can be very worrying. Indeed, a pet can sometimes be a source ofunforeseen problems and constraints (breakage, cleaning costs, suitable location, etc.). Yet this is a booming market. Accepting pets in your Airbnb accommodation would therefore allow you toincrease your bookings! How can you attract this new “Pet-Friendly” clientele and ensure the best possible rental experience? Here’s our advice on the subject.
Hard to find a rental
B&B who is accepting the pets...
Much to the chagrin of pet owners, there are very few BnB accommodations that are allowed for our 4-legged friends. For example, over 75% of Airbnb accommodations in France are not pet-friendly. And yet, there are many of them in our homes: there are 7 million dogs and 13 million cats in France. These considerable figures continue to rise. And already over 40% of pet owners take their pets on vacation. Interesting, isn’t it?
But faced with the difficulty of finding accommodation that accepts pets, many owners resign themselves to entrusting their animals to a dog-sitter or leaving them in a boarding kennel. So how do you take advantage of this attractive market?
Our tips before agreeing
for the pets in your house
Allowing pets into your home can bring you new bookings, and boost your rental income. But how do you manage your new furry tenants so as to avoid incidents?
Start by writing a complete ad (you can use our article “Our tips for a successful ad“). Indicate in your ad whether or not you accept pets. You can also choose to add an extra cleaning fee for pet-friendly rentals. You’ll need to specify this in your ad description, then use the Resolution Center to bill your guests (for more information, read this article).
As the aim is to attract Pet-Friendly customers, we also advise you to describe the features of your accommodation. What makes it suitable for pets (fenced garden, nearby walks, etc.)? In case you’re still reluctant to face up to the possibility of damage, you should know that most platforms offer host insurance. For Airbnb, for example, this insurance covers up to €800,000 on physical or material damage.
The welcome booklet :
un indispensable
Accepting pets in your rental can be scary. But with the right guidance, this practice can help you maximize your rental income.
With StyQR, the digital welcome booklet, you can remind your guests of the rules to be observed in your home, particularly with regard to pets. In our “At home” module, you can specify the elements of your choice, e.g. “no dogs allowed on the sofa! Your welcome booklet will also enable you to provide your travellers with all the information they need (wifi code, digicode, useful numbers, good addresses nearby…). To access the welcome booklet, all your tenants have to do is scan a QR Code placed in a photo frame, and that’s it!
