It’s important to think about the safety of children and babies if you welcome them in your rental! Even if parents have to keep an eye on them, accidents can happen, so it’s better to be safe than sorry.

1. For babies
In order to welcome babies safely, you need to ensure that certain things are present in your home:
- Door stops
- Protection for your windows if you have bay windows
- We also need bars to prevent climbing up and down the stairs.
- A few caches taken (giving parents the key to remove them if necessary)
- Finally, closures on cupboards giving access to household products
To take things a step further, you can also provide protectors for the corners of walls or furniture, warn parents of slippery places or put your plants up high to prevent baby pulling on them.

2. For older children
For older children there are fewer precautions to take, but you can still think about things like :
- Store household products high up
- Keep knives out of the kitchen
- Protect a staircase from falls with an anti-slip mat or simply a gantry.
- Identify potentially dangerous areas with your StyQR booklet
Have you put all these little things in place? To take things a step further, we’ve prepared an article on how to welcome them.
