Winter is coming! And with it the opening of the winter sports resorts. Last year was not a good season at all, so this year we’re planning to make up for it and enjoy the snowy slopes!
1. Luxury resorts
Among the best-known are Megève, Méribel, Courchevel and Val d’Isére. Why go there? For a stay in a comfortable chalet, the luxury boutiques and the impressive number of Michelin-starred restaurants in these resorts. On the program here: huge Christmas trees, top-notch decorations, but good luck finding a Franprix!
2. Winter sports resorts for partying
Arc 1800: the most famous resort for partying. And for good reason, with its many bars and discos! For some years now, too, the Folie Douce in Val d’Isère, Méribel and Val Thorens has been going from strength to strength. On the program: open-air partying and dancing on the tables, all with a superb view of the mountains! A little less well known, but popular for its “Rock The Pistes“Avoriaz also promises some great festivities. Here you’ll find the “Yak” disco, the “Snowboxx” festival and the not-to-be-missed “Rock on Ultimate” opening night party.
3. Families
With its recognizable logo, La Plagne welcomes you to over 225 km of slopes and 6 high altitude resorts. Here, everything is in place to take care of your family, whatever your level. Another of our favorites: Les Arcs. With 4 different resorts, unforgettable views and pistes to suit all levels, you’re bound to find something to suit you! Last but not least, Les Deux Alpes is a great place for skiing and dog sledding!
4. The most intimate
Here, we must confess that we have our favorite: Champagny en Vanoise. A tiny resort just opposite Courchevel (for a change of pace). The locals are adorable, and there are plenty of restaurants and small grocery stores to choose from. You’ll also find Arêches-Beaufort in the Beaufortain, Albiez-Montrond and Pralognan-la-Vanoise. Theadvantage of these smaller winter sports resorts? Get closer to nature and enjoy a more authentic holiday.
