Welcome to Reunion Island
Its nickname, l’île Intense, defines it perfectly. Between the excursions, the walks, the local food and the sites not to be missed, you can’t get bored!
Réunion ‘s natural beauty is breathtaking. Its unspoilt nature and authenticity make it an exceptional island. Between lounging and hiking, let’s recharge our batteries in this natural paradise.
Climbingthe volcano
Let’s start our discovery with one of the island’s most distinctive features, the Piton de la Fournaise . You’ll find it in the south-east of the island.
The ascent to the summit is possible by car. Take time to stop as you climb. You’ll have the opportunity to discover sumptuous landscapes. The finishing point is just beyond the Plaine des Sables.
You can walk around the enclosure protecting the heart of the volcano when it is not erupting. It takes around 4 hours to walk all the way round.
Hikingin the cirques
You also can’t miss one (or more) of the island’s cirque hikes.
The best-known and most remote of the three, the cirque de Mafate offers breathtaking panoramic views. Its access is particularly difficult, so you’ll have to follow a hiking trail or take a helicopter tour to discover it.
The Cirque de Salazie is also a hiker’s paradise. If we had to classify them, we’d say that this one is a little more accessible than the first, but that’s really up to each individual!
Enjoy the beachesand waterfalls
Of course, when you think of Réunion Island, you think of beaches and fine sand. You won’t be outdone here either. If you’re looking for the picture-postcard beach with its crystal-clear lagoon and fine sand, you’ve got to check out Plage de l’Hermitage .
But if you’ve heard of black sand beaches, then head for Grande Anse beach. For those more into waterfalls and adventure, the Voile de la Mariée waterfall is unmissable.
We’ll let you discover its legend 😉.
The Trou de Fer waterfall is also not to be missed. Its scenery is sensational.
Not justnature
Let’s take a little city detour now and discover the town of Saint-Pierre. Located in the south of the island, it is still home to many buildings dating back to colonial times. Discover the town hall, formerly a coffee warehouse, and the former train station, now the café de la gare 😊.
Take the opportunity to visit its typical Saturday morning market. It’s one of the most beautiful in France!
A wide choiceof activities
Let’s finish this wonderful tour with its activities, and as you can well imagine, there’s no shortage of them.
As mentioned above, you can go sailing, canoeing or surfing , but that’s not all. You can go scuba diving to discover the coral reef and the entire marine environment.
You can go hiking, quad biking or mountain bi king. You can also fly over the island in a helicopter or microlight.
