Welcome to Lillethe capital of Flanders

Have you chosen the capital of Flanders for your next getaway? Great choice! Lille is a city renowned for its warm welcome and good living.
Well-known for its annual Grande Braderie in September, Lille is much more than that. The city abounds inactivities, discoveries and good addresses.

Visit Lillein a practical way

If you’re planning to take part in a number of paid activities such as museums, visits to historic sites or theme parks, consider the City Pass.
It’s valid from 24 to 72 hours, depending on the one you choose, and will save you both time and money. It includes entrance tickets to 30 tourist sites and attractions in and around the city, as well as public transport.
It costs €25 and you’ll need to add an extra €10 per day if you want to keep it for more than 24 hours. Plutôt une bonne idée non ?
Now that we’ve finished talking logistics, let’s get down to business.

Must-see places

As the city’s focal point, you’ll want to take a stroll through Old Lille.
Remarkable for its architecture, which differs from other parts of the city, you’ll feel like you’re in a bubble. Small cobbled streets, red brick houses, restaurants, art galleries and boutiques on every corner. This is the atmosphere you’ll find in the neighborhood. It’s warm, pleasant and, what’s more, very pretty.
It’s a particularly popular area for locals and tourists alike! Don’t forget to stop off at Notre Dame de la Treille cathedral.

Visit the Grand’Place, the heart of the city. If you’re visiting other northern European cities, you’ll probably feel you’ve seen this style of architecture before, like in Brussels or Bruges.
Climb to the top of the Hôtel de Ville Belfry. You’ll be able to explore the interior and enjoy a 360° view of Lille and the surrounding area as you reach the top.
If you like architecture then, still in the center of Lille, you’ll need to stop off at the Old Stock Exchange and its book market.
After that, head for the Citadelle for a little history lesson. You’ll discover a particularly well-preserved and pleasant place for a stroll.
A few other places like theHospice Comtesse, the Musée des Beaux-Arts or the birthplace of Charles de Gaullesshould be on your list if you want to discover the city to the full.

Gastronomy

Let’s talk about local gastronomy and beverages. (we agree, it’s our favorite part too 😉 ).
The Vieux-Lille and Wazemmes markets are a must for the atmosphere and the quality of their produce.
Beer lovers? You’ve come to the right place! Take the time to sample many local and Belgian beers at one of the city’s many breweries. While you’re at it, why not sample some of the region’s signature dishes?
Potjevleesch, carbonnade flamande, welsh and Maroilles tart. The region has plenty of character! For those with more of a sweet tooth, we’ll let you choose (or not, take both 😉 ) between Fred’s wonderful or Maison Meert’s waffles.

Don’t hesitate to add your own good addresses to your booklet.

If you have a small question at any time. If you don’t know what to put in a category, take a look at our Lille booklet. We’ve made a sample booklet to give you an idea of what the booklet looks like when finished 🙂

The aim of the booklet is to provide as much information as possible about what you like, so that you can share it with your visitors. It’s all about sharing at StyQR 😉
