See Paris differently

When it comes to places to visit, we have put together a short list of the discoveries waiting for you in Paris. Of course, everyone knows the legendary landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe, so we will not dwell on them, but do go and see them! Once you have ticked off these must-sees, we recommend simply getting lost in the streets of Paris. Montmartre is always a great favourite: touristy, yes, but genuinely authentic. Or stroll through the Tuileries garden and finish by discovering the glass pyramid at the Louvre.

Paris offers an endless amount to discover, and there is nothing better than letting yourself be surprised as you turn a corner or wander into a new neighbourhood. One very personal suggestion: you could also take the time to track down the filming locations of your favourite films. That makes for a lovely walk around Paris too.

Local recommendations for eating out

As for the food, where do we even start? Between you and me, there are hundreds of different restaurants in the capital. Listing every one of the best Parisian restaurants would take far too long, so here is a small selection by neighbourhood, so you know where to head depending on what you fancy. If you love Italian food, we recommend La Felicità. You will find pasta and pizza there, but also cocktails and desserts in a truly stunning setting.

Next, the first three arrondissements of Paris offer a huge choice of restaurants: fine dining, brasseries and bistros, and small intimate places. There is plenty to choose from in this part of the city. The Marais is particularly enjoyable for its atmosphere and its new, often inventive openings. Lovers of Asian food should head for Chinatown in the 13th arrondissement: let yourself get lost in its lantern-lined streets. Finally, in areas such as the 9th and the 10th you will also find plenty of restaurants to satisfy every craving. As you will have gathered, Paris is not a city where you go hungry.

Getting around easily

Thanks to its transport network, Paris also gives you easy access to surroundings that are every bit as pleasant to explore. The RER takes you straight to Fontainebleau, where remarkable walks await in this green pocket of countryside. You can also head to the Hauts-de-Seine to recharge. Public transport will take you directly to Versailles, the perfect opportunity to visit its famous château. Getting around Paris can look daunting, but do not worry: plenty of ticket options are available depending on how long you are staying and which zones you want to explore.
