Keen on history, and Gallo-Roman culture in particular? Well, you're in luck: the city has one of the largest museums in the world devoted to Gallo-Roman civilisation. In Lyon, every address is a good one! Brasserie Georges for a proper meal, Slake Coffee House for a Sunday morning brunch, or a drink at Le Bosquet bar in the loveliest of leafy settings.

And if you're short of time or simply prefer to eat on the go, we'd point you towards the food trucks: very much in vogue and very good indeed. Our favourites are Rocket's and Le Sous-marin Jaune, but do go and track down others around the city!

As fond of shopping as we are? Perfect. Shopping centres across the city will satisfy every whim. La Part-Dieu and the Confluence centre are our particular favourites.

The Festival of Lights

Last but certainly not least: if you're lucky enough to visit Lyon at the right time of year, don't miss the Festival of Lights. Famous throughout France, it is an absolutely breathtaking spectacle. You'll never be disappointed, because every year brings a new setting, a new theme and a whole new atmosphere.
